• Two-Way-Dual-Language, Spanish-English, Juntos Program

In Juntos, a Dual Immersion Spanish-English Program, your child will benefit from all the things that make Sunnyvale School District special — high academic standards, academic rigor, rich curriculum, and caring instruction. In addition, dual-immersion students:

    • Develop outstanding analytical skills that strengthen learning overall

    • Become fully literate in both English and Spanish during their primary school years, giving them an advantage in high school, college, and beyond.

    Our Vision:

San Miguel Dual Immersion students will become bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English. They will become true global citizens by valuing the diverse cultural community around them and taking pride in themselves, their language, and their culture. They will become confident and compassionate leaders prepared for rigorous academic and life challenges.

    Our Mission:

In our environment of constant learning in both Spanish and English, the Juntos program cultivates:

    ● A growth mindset and perseverance

    ● Empathy and respect

    ● Mental agility and problem-solving

    ● Curiosity and risk-taking

    ● Family empowerment and engagement.

In Juntos, Spanish for "together", students will learn Spanish and English at the same time, achieving bilingualism and biliteracy. Regardless of what language you speak at home, this program will develop your child’s ability to speak and read academic Spanish and English, as well as strengthen all academic areas.

Our Juntos program is award-winning. Please see this San Jose Mercury News Article, San Jose Mercury News Article on Juntos and see our video here https://youtu.be/_teyeEVz4oM

Juntos is offered exclusively to Sunnyvale School District’s students, but space is limited and students will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

No previous language skills are required. For more information on San Miguel Elementary’s Juntos Spanish-English Dual Immersion program, please call (408) 522-8278.
