Mensaje del director

Ha sido un honor y un placer servir a nuestra comunidad de San Miguel durante el ciclo escolar 2024-2025. Me impresiona constantemente la curiosidad, la creatividad y la resiliencia de nuestros jóvenes estudiantes. Nuestros estudiantes son como esponjas, absorbiendo nuevos conocimientos y habilidades cada día.

Este año, he visto a niños de kinder escribiendo con entusiasmo sus primeras oraciones, a estudiantes de segundo grado sumergiéndose en enriquecedoras discusiones sobre historias que han leído y a estudiantes de quinto grado aprendiendo en un campamento de ciencias.

Con la llegada del verano, animo a las familias a mantener vivo el amor por el aprendizaje. Aquí les dejo algunas maneras sencillas de apoyar el aprendizaje continuo durante las vacaciones:

• Lean juntos todos los días: visiten la biblioteca local y dejen que su hijo elija libros que despierten su interés.

• Explora las matemáticas en la vida cotidiana: cocinar, comprar y jugar son excelentes oportunidades para practicar habilidades matemáticas.

• Sienta curiosidad por el mundo: realice caminatas por la naturaleza, visite museos o simplemente haga preguntas e investiguen las respuestas juntos.

• Fomente la creatividad: dibujar, construir, contar historias y el juego imaginativo ayudan a cultivar habilidades importantes.

Gracias por su colaboración y apoyo este año. Estoy agradecido de formar parte de una organización tan solidaria.

Último día de clases y opción de almuerzo

Les recordamos que el último día de clases es este jueves 12 de junio y todos los estudiantes salen a las 11:20 a. m. Habrá almuerzo disponible para quienes deseen llevarse a casa. Por favor, pasen por la cafetería después de clases si desean recoger su almuerzo.

Excursión de fin de año

Nos complace anunciar que nuestros alumnos de 3.º a 5.º grado irán al Parque Fair Oaks para nuestro picnic anual de fin de curso este miércoles 11 de junio. ¡Gracias a nuestra Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) por ayudar a organizar y financiar un evento tan divertido para todos nuestros alumnos! Los permisos se enviaron hace varias semanas, pero por favor, contacten con el/la maestro/a de su hijo/a si tienen alguna pregunta o desean acompañarlos. ¡Vamos Sharks!

Al finalizar el año escolar, queremos agradecerles su colaboración para lograr una asistencia excelente. ¡Cada día cuenta, hasta el último timbre!

¡Felicitaciones a la clase de la Sra. Parra por ganar el Desafío de Asistencia de Mayo con el mayor porcentaje de estudiantes presentes! ¡Se ganaron una fiesta de pizza para celebrar su excelente asistencia! ¡Mantengamos el impulso y terminemos esta última semana con éxito!

Plataforma de comunicación de Parent Square

El Distrito Escolar de Sunnyvale se complace en anunciar el lanzamiento de ParentSquare, una nueva plataforma unificada de comunicación entre la escuela y el hogar, a partir del año escolar 2025-2026. Esta herramienta optimizará la comunicación al reemplazar ClassDojo, SeeSaw y SchoolMessenger, ofreciendo a las familias una aplicación única y segura para mantenerse informadas y comprometidas. Los padres recibirán un correo electrónico de activación en otoño y podrán recibir mensajes por SMS, correo electrónico y teléfono de San Miguel y de los maestros de sus hijos.

Mientras continuamos de luto por la pérdida de nuestra querida maestra, la Sra. Choate, su familia nos ha pedido que compartamos los detalles de la Celebración de la Vida para aquellos que han estado preguntando.

El rincón de las enfermeras

Vacunas para el otoño: Si su hijo/a va a 7.º grado o a Kínder de Transición este otoño, es posible que necesite vacunas adicionales antes del inicio de clases. Probablemente recibirá una carta o un correo electrónico de la escuela recordándole las vacunas necesarias, o también puede consultar con el pediatra de su hijo/a. Ahora también puede acceder al registro de vacunación de California de su hijo/a (¡o al suyo!) en línea a través de este enlace: myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov Si no tiene seguro médico y necesita ayuda para obtener la vacuna Tdap, contra la varicela o MMR, el condado de Santa Clara puede brindarle ayuda. Desayuno y almuerzo para estudiantes

Una vez más, este año escolar, el desayuno y el almuerzo serán gratuitos para todos los estudiantes. Se recomienda encarecidamente a las familias que completen la solicitud de almuerzo gratuito o a precio reducido, lo cual contribuye significativamente a la financiación de nuestra escuela. ¡GRACIAS POR UN GRAN AÑO!

Nos enorgullecemos de todo lo que hemos logrado juntos, incluyendo la financiación de excursiones para estudiantes de todas las aulas, el patrocinio de tres asambleas educativas y un evento de concienciación sobre habilidades para todos, la organización de tres sesiones de actividades extraescolares y la concesión de 236 becas para participar en ellas, la dotación de docenas de libros nuevos en español en la biblioteca escolar y la organización de múltiples eventos comunitarios. Gracias por su participación en la recaudación de fondos y el voluntariado, en apoyo de toda nuestra comunidad.

Gran inauguración de la Pequeña Biblioteca Gratuita, el martes en el momento de recoger:

¡Apoya la alfabetización de tu estudiante durante el verano eligiendo un libro de la nueva Biblioteca Pequeña de San Miguel! La biblioteca contará con más de 200 libros de Penguin Random House, además de los libros donados por las familias. Estaremos cerca de la recepción.

Principal’s Message

It has once again been an honor and a pleasure to serve our San Miguel community throughout the 2024-2025 school year. I am continuously impressed by the curiosity, creativity, and resilience of our young learners. Our students are truly like sponges, absorbing new knowledge and skills every day.

This year, I’ve seen kindergarteners excitedly writing their first sentences, second graders diving into rich discussions about stories they’ve read, and 5^th grade students learning at science camp.

As we head into summer, I encourage families to help keep that love of learning alive. Here are a few simple ways to support continued learning over the break:

• Read together every day: visit your local library and let your child choose books that spark their interest.

• Explore math in everyday life: cooking, shopping, and playing games are all great opportunities to practice math skills.

• Get curious about the world: go on nature walks, visit museums, or simply ask questions and research answers together.

• Encourage creativity: drawing, building, storytelling, and imaginative play all help nurture important skills.

Thank you for your partnership and support this year. I am grateful to be part of such a caring 

and a dedicated community. Wishing you all a safe, restful, and joyful summer!

Last day of School & Lunch Option

As a reminder, the last day of school is this Thursday, June 12th and all students are dismissed at 11:20 am. Lunch will be available for students who would like to take a bagged lunch home that day. Please pass through the school cafeteria after school if you would like to pick up a lunch.

End of Year Field Trip 

We are excited to share that our 3rd-5th grade students will be headed to Fair Oaks Park for our annual end of year picnic this Wednesday, June 11th. Thank you to our PTA for helping to organize and fund such a fun event for all our students! Permission slips went home several weeks ago but please reach out to your student’s teacher if you have questions or would like to help chaperone. Go Sharks!

As we wrap up the school year, we want to thank you for your partnership in supporting strong attendance. Every day counts — right up to the last bell!

📈 Congratulations to Ms. Parra’s class for winning the May Attendance Challenge with the highest percentage of students present! 🎉 They’ve earned a pizza party to celebrate their great attendance! Let’s keep the momentum going and make this final week a strong finish!

Parent Square Communication Platform

Sunnyvale School District is excited to announce the launch of ParentSquare, a new unified school-to-home communication platform, starting in the 2025–2026 school year. This tool will streamline communication by replacing ClassDojo, SeeSaw, and SchoolMessenger, giving families a single, secure app to stay informed and engaged. Parents will receive an activation email in the fall and will be able to get messages via text, email, and phone from San Miguel and their child’s teacher(s).

As we continue to mourn the loss of our beloved teacher, Mrs. Choate, her family has asked us to share the Celebration of Life details for those who have been inquiring.

Nurses' Corner

Immunizations for Fall: If you have a student going into 7th grade or a student starting TK this fall, they may need additional immunizations before school starts. You will most likely receive a letter or an email from the school reminding you of any needed vaccinations--or you can also check with your child's pediatrician. You are also now able to access your child's California vaccination record (or your own!) online using this link: myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov  If you have no insurance and need assistance with obtaining a Tdap, varicella or MMR vaccine, the county of Santa Clara can provide help. The number to call is (408) 970-2870. 

Student Breakfast & Lunch

Once again student breakfast and lunch will be provided for free for all students this school year. Families are highly encouraged to fill out the free and reduced lunch application which greatly helps our school funding. Link. The cafeteria will be open from 7:40- 7:55 AM for breakfast.

THANK YOU FOR A GREAT YEAR! 

We are proud of all we've accomplished together, including funding field trips for students from all classrooms, sponsoring three educational assemblies and an all abilities awareness event, organizing three sessions of after school activities and providing 236 scholarships toward participation in them, stocking dozens of new books in Spanish in the school library, and hosting multiple community events. Thank you for your participation in fundraising and volunteerism, in support of our whole community.
