Rob Felicano, Assistant Principal

Rob Felicano is excited to be a member of the Bishop elementary community as the Assistant Principal!

Mr. Felicano began his career in education after graduating from California State University, Chico. While at Chico State, Mr. Felicano completed both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Education focusing on Curriculum and Instruction. Once he completed his credential training, he relocated to the Los Angeles area to work at a school which first taught him about Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Successful People and the Leader In Me program. Mr. Felicano’s time away from the Bay Area was rewarding; however, he missed his home community and chose to relocate back to Northern California.

Mr. Felicano joined the Sunnyvale school district as a teacher at Columbia Middle school.  He taught 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies for 6 years! In fact, he credits his own 6th grade teacher for inspiring him to love history by exploring ancient civilizations, and becoming a teacher as well! When Mr. Felicano was awarded Acknowledge Alliance’s Forget-Me-Not Outstanding Educator in 2017, he was honored to share that moment with his 6th grade teacher alongside his family.

While a member of the Columbia Middle school team, Mr. Felicano loved being a WEB advisor for 8th grade students, and a member of committees like CMS’ Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) to connect with school families. He believes in the importance of a strong home-school connection, and building positive rapport with parents and students alike. At the core of his classroom pedagogy was his focus on social-emotional learning through a philosophy and program known as Love and Logic by Dr. Jim Faye. Additionally, he has always been excited about the project-based learning (PBL) model for connecting students with learning through hands-on activities.

Mr. Felicano has been honored to be a part of the Stanford University Partnership Program (UPP) for many years. During his time with the program, he has had the opportunity to teach during the Summer Explorations program and mentor Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) candidates as a Coordinating Teacher (CT). Later, he had the pleasure of leading Sunnyvale School District’s partnership program with Stanford known as Summer Explorations as the program’s administrator during Summer 2019.

Mr. Felicano is so excited to be a member of the Bishop community and looks forward to building partnerships with parents and supporting students! Go Bobcats!

When not in the classroom, Mr. Felicano can be found cooking new recipes with all kinds of innovative kitchen gadgets, traveling the world with his family, or relaxing on a beach with an engaging novel!
