Dr. Kelly Mack - Assistant Principal

My educational journey began as a preschool teacher at Rocking Horse Ranch, where I discovered the magic of song and story. I later moved on to teach sixth grade, where I learned the importance of building relationships and meeting students where they are. My experience also includes collaborating with pre-service and newly qualified teachers, where listening and asking the right questions were vital. Overall, I have spent over twenty years making learning personal and meaningful for kids and adults.

Although I was born and raised in Southern California, the Bay Area has been home for most of my life since I attended UC Santa Cruz. After graduating with a BA in Philosophy and a minor in Education, I took the natural next step and became a preschool teacher. Who knew school could be so much fun? This experience, where learning happens through dialogue and play, became foundational to my educational philosophy.

Over the years, I have worn many hats, working as a teacher, instructional coach, coordinator, intervention teacher, and professor in various educational organizations. This diversity of roles has given me a unique perspective and a wealth of experience. Recently, I completed my doctorate in educational leadership, focusing on equity and mentor development. My career goal has always been to positively impact students' lives.

When I'm not at school, you'll find me reading, roller skating, chasing frisbees, or hiking with my dog. These activities keep me grounded and energized. Now, I'm thrilled to join the Cumberland Elementary community as an assistant principal. I'm eager and enthusiastic to work together to ensure every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive, student-centered environment. Go Cougars!
