Student Activities
SMS has a variety of student activities on campus. Students may choose from a large list of clubs that meet at lunch or after school, including Science Bowl, Chess Club, Math Club. Miniatures , FBLA, and many other fun activities. Student activities can also be extension of our elective and music programs. Renaissance and Leadership are two of our larger programs on campus.
Renaissance

Renaissance is a school program that recognizes SMS students who demonstrate superior life long skills in three main areas: classroom participation, involvement in community activities and academic achievement. Each trimester, students may fill out an application form and turn it in during designated the Renaissance Stamping Week.

Student Leadership

In the Leadership class at Sunnyvale Middle School, students learn the concept of leadership and how to become stronger and more effective leaders. Students also learn the concept of service by providing great experiences for their fellow students at Sunnyvale Middle School. Students in the Leadership class organize many events for the student body, including dances, Renaissance assemblies, lunch time activities, spirit week, and many more. Leadership students help with the day to day function of SMS by running the Spartan tv morning announcements, publicizing clubs and events on campus, and working closely with Student Council.
