Project Cornerstone, an initiative of the YMCA, is committed to helping all children and teens in Silicon Valley feel valued, respected and known. Its programs and services help individuals and communities build a web of support around young people so that they grow into healthy, caring and responsible adults.
Our partnership with Project Cornerstone allows us the opportunity to provide our students and families with the Asset Building Champions (ABC) Family Engagement Program. Through the ABC Family Engagement program, adults learn to create positive connections with their own children and youth in the community, and volunteer at schools to read specially selected books and lead activities that help teach valuable lessons such as making healthy choices, peaceful conflict resolution, honesty and friendship skills.
Goals of the Program
- Increase the number of developmental assets in ALL children and adults. The 41 developmental assets are the positive values, relationships, skills and experiences that help young people thrive.
- Increase the number of caring adults.
