San Miguel and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (participating children), agree that the parents, entire school staff, and students will share in the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the California Content Standards.

San Miguel School will :

1.   Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective environment that enables the participating students to achieve the California Content Standards as follows:

• Core Literacy (Treasures)
• Writing (Units of Study)
• Designated and Integrated ELD 
• Math (Expressions)
• Social Studies 
• Science 

2.   Provide interventions, enrichment, and supplemental curriculum to meet the needs of all learners:  

• Differentiated instruction throughout the school day (e.g. LLI, Guided Reading, Leveled Readers, ST Math, Raz Kids, Read Naturally, Read Well and Listening Centers)
• Before and after-school tutorials 
• Kids Learning After School (Academics Supports, YMCA Physical Activities, Healthy Snacks)
• Summer School (Summer Success Reading and Math)

3.   Discuss this parent involvement policy at:

• November Conferences as it relates to the individual child's achievement  
• School Site Council, English Learner Action Committee (ELAC), and Parent Association as it relates to school-wide achievement

4. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children's progress in English and Spanish. The school will provide reports as follows:

• November Conferences and November Standards-Based Report Card
• Progress reports as needed
• March Standards-Based Report Card
• June Standards-Based Report Card

5.   Provide parents with reasonable time to  communicate with teachers:

• Before and after school consultations/conferences
• Back to School Night and Open House to meet teachers and visit classrooms

6.   Provide parents with opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child's class and to observe classroom activities as follows:

• Encourage parents to volunteer in their child's classroom. (e.g. field trips, prepare classroom materials, support students selected by the teacher).
• Describe when and how parents may volunteer, participate, and observe classroom activities.

7.   Provide parents with information in English and Spanish pertaining to academic standards, assessments, curriculum, and school programs.
