• Independent Study

It is in your child's best interest to plan vacations while school is not in session. In order to receive Independent Study credits, you need to come into the office to complete the Independent Study Contract. Contracts will be granted only when you contact the school office 5 school-days in advance of absence due to travel. While this is no substitute for regular classroom instruction, it will help your child stay current with their class.

    Arrival Time

Playground supervision begins at 7:45 a.m. To ensure students' safety, we ask that you do not send your children to school before this time, as there is no proper supervision for them. The cafeteria is open at 7:30 a.m. for any students who wish to eat a school breakfast.

Students are to arrive in line and on time for the warning bell at 7:57 a.m.  Any student who arrives at their line after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy.

    Messages for Students

We make every effort not to interrupt teachers during their teaching time. Please make every effort to give your child messages before school because it is very difficult to give children messages when parents call the office close to dismissal time. If students have special instructions about whether or not to ride the bus, it is critical that they know before they come to school. Relying on the office to give last-minute instructions about whether or not to take the bus can jeopardize students' safety.

    Student Sign Out

Release of a child from school may only be made to a parent, legal guardian, or someone listed as an emergency contact. Release to persons other than the above-mentioned may be made with written permission of parents or legal guardians. Anyone taking a child out of school during school hours must sign them out in the office.

    Staying After School

For student safety, students that attend KLAS, after-school tutorial or enrichment programs should be the only students on campus after the school day is over. Parents are responsible for arranging transportation home for their children.

    Dress Code

We want every child at Lakewood to be successful in life.  Looking and feeling your best are important lessons to learn at a young age.  Being healthy, clean, and dressing appropriately for school allows students to focus on learning, and not distracting or unproductive activities.  Please take a moment to read these items carefully, and discuss them with your child.
