Roles in the “Community Triangle” of the Classroom: Teacher-Parent-Student

  • What is my role in a parent participation program? At Fairwood Explorer, parents, teachers, and students are a part of a “community triangle.” We each have a different role as we work together as partners. As educational experts, the teaching staff is in charge of the classroom, and the parents’ role is to support the teacher. Parents well suited to the Explorer Model are comfortable trusting the teachers’ expertise, communicating supportively, and contributing as asked. Working with children year after year, parents become a support network of trusted, caring adults in the students’ lives.
