PROTECT YOUR BRAIN; WEAR A HELMET!
Wondering why it’s important to wear a helmet? Wearing a properly fitted helmet reduces the risk of head injury if involved in a crash. California law requires anyone under the age of 18 to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, skateboard or skating. That includes students being pulled in a bike trailer. Parents: let’s lead by example and make wearing helmets a family habit.
YOU CAN LEARN IMPORTANT LIFE SKILLS WHILE WALKING AND BIKING TO SCHOOL
Teaching your student to walk or bike to school safely instills important life skills and independence. Practice walking or biking with your student so that they become familiar with their neighborhood, know which route to take to school, how to safely cross intersections, and learn how to interact with drivers as well as bicyclists on their route. When they’re ready, help your students develop confidence and independence by teaching them how to walk or bike to school on their own!
