Wednesday Helpers (For Middle School Students)

  • What is a "Wednesday Helper"?

    Wednesday Helpers are middle school students who, typically, have attended Cherry Chase in the past.  They volunteer at Cherry Chase on Wednesday mornings from 8:15 am to 9:15 am. We encourage this service, while also striving to maintain an effective instructional environment in our classrooms. 

    We have 30 teachers at Cherry Chase Elementary, and we are looking to have one Wednesday Helper assigned per teacher.  However, not all teachers may have a need for a Wednesday helper, therefore, spaces are limited.  

     

  • Expectations for Wednesday Helpers

    • Make arrangements in advance with a specific teacher at Cherry Chase.  Only one volunteer will be allowed per classroom.

    • Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application. They will receive an email informing them of the teacher they will be working with. 

    • Wednesday Helpers will report to their assigned teacher starting on September 13, 2023.

    • All Wednesday Helpers  MUST sign in at the Cherry Chase Office upon arrival. Please remember to get a badge and wear it at all times. 

    • All Wednesday Helpers MUST stay in their assigned teacher’s classroom for the duration of the volunteer time; they may not visit other classrooms or hang out in the walkways(Staff room and workroom are off-limits to Wednesday Helpers).

    • All Wednesday Helpers  MUST sign-out at the Cherry Chase Office by 9:15AM.

    • Act respectfully and responsibly at all times while on the Cherry Chase campus, remembering that you are a model for the younger students.
