Classroom Management
-
Classroom management is based primarily on rewarding and acknowledging appropriate or exemplary behavior as opposed to punishing inappropriate behavior.
The five major rules in my classroom are:
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Always do YOUR best
- Have fun!
The sequence of consequences in my classroom are:
- Students have a clip on the behavior chart located in the front left of the room under the T.V.
- Students start with their clip on green (ready to learn) at the beginning of the day and move down the chart for inappropriate behavior. If a student is misbehaving, they will get one verbal warning before they have to move their clip. If the student is still misbehaving, they will be asked to move their clip to the yellow spot (warning). If the student continues to break the rules, they will be asked to move their clip from the yellow spot to the red spot (Consequence). I am optimistic that I will not have to go beyond clips being pulled to the red spot, but phone calls home and parent meetings will be scheduled if rules continue to be broken.
Rewards and positive reinforcement in my room are:
- Raffle Tickets (used in the classroom store)
- Positive email or note home
- Free time
I will be sending home a progress report for your child weekly. This will show you what color they were on at the end of every day, what assignments they were missing for the week, and any comments that I want to share with you. Attached to these progress reports will be your child's graded tests for that week.
